Student Life

Pastoral Care

At OLOL we provide a Catholic environment in which students can grow academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. This is essential so that all members of our school community can fully participate in quality relationships, decision-making and mutual respect for one another.

The school’s Behaviour Management plan is based on pastoral care and restorative justice. The emphasis is on recognising, encouraging and rewarding students who choose to behave appropriately, while putting in place reasonable consequences when behaviour is unacceptable.

The Diocesan Pastoral Care Policy states: “we are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) and at the core of the Churches pastoral action is a deep respect for the innate dignity and uniqueness of the individual person.”

Gardening Club

Students have the opportunity to spend lunch times with our Pastoral Care Worker in the garden. They work together to look after our school, care for the garden and always have a project on the go that will benefit the school.

Buddy Program

When students enrol at Our Lady of Lourdes in Kindergarten, they are supported in their transition by a buddy allocated to them from the Year 6 class. These buddies help the new Kinders learn the routines of the school and settle into life at “big school”.

Support Personnel

Learning Support Team

Students at Our Lady of Lourdes are supported in their learning by a Learning Support Teacher and several Learning Support Assistants. The Learning Support team work to support both the pastoral and academic needs of the students.

School Counsellor

Our Lady of Lourdes has the services of a Social Worker, provided through the Catholic Schools Office, working at the school. The social worker provides support to students and families in need. Recommendations are made to assist parents and teachers to cater for the ongoing educational needs of the students.
